What Are The Differences Between Essential Oils and Fragrance Oils?
It’s not uncommon for people to find it hard to distinguish between essential oils and fragrance oils. Essential oils come from plant sources and extracted through steam distillation or through the use of a solvent such as benzene; in the process a blend of diverse chemicals is created that form a unique scent that represents the final product. It’s however advisable not to apply essential oils undiluted; a serious allergic reaction might result as has been seen through the undiluted application on the skin of such oils as cinnamon and bay. They are highly used in baths or massages to rejuvenate the body through the skin and are known to affect mental, emotional and physical health.
On the other hand, fragrance oils, also termed as perfume or aromatic oils are synthetic or manufactured scents artificially created. They are made up of artificial substances and impersonate the natural products’ scents. Fragrance oils have a massive scent range. They are not very expensive as essential oils and mostly used in the creation of flavorings, cosmetics and perfumes.
